Amilo Pro V2010 problem

My son was recently given a Amilo Pro V2010 which was working perfetly until he tried to install the latest XP Service pack. Now the computer refuses to start up. It starts to boot up and we see the Windows XP build screen, followed by a flash of a blue DOS screen, before changing to a black one advising that a problem has been encountered in starting, offeringvarious options for restarting. None of these options work, even Safe Mode. It just begins to try starting again after a 30 second countdown.
I have managed to read the blue screen and the problem appears to be " UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME"
Is there some kind soul that can advise how to get the computer working again. Unfortunately he was not given a Start Up disc when he got it and the Manual does not seem to cover this situation. :?
