[Li2727] CD/DVD Drive problem

Running Vista SP1
CD Rom drive is not listed in Windows Explorer
Device Manager says the drivers for this device are missing or corrupt.
Unfortnately at Fujitsu-Siemens website you cannot download these drivers.
It also claims I don't need drivers, but that must not be true.
I have a "Drivers" folder on C:, but there's no CD/DVD rom drivers there.

This is a friend's notebook, i wonder can i do a repair install of Vista?
She has no CD's with this notebook.

Can anybody help?
I really need to try to manually install these drivers.
The device is a "TSSTcorp CDDVDW TS-L632H ATA device" in Device Manager.

I tried "DeskUpdate" which is a updater program for these laptops but it also doesn't fix the problem.

Depending on the age of the PC you may be able to run the untility to create a recovery disk (Press F8 on boot) and then you can run a revoery or a reinstall of Windows. Alternatively, look at switching to Win XP, far more stable than Vista

i tried to setup another windows so i formated hole the hard disc and i think i formated the factory recovery on hard drive because i can't get my recovery windows back , id like to have my old windows back what shall i do ?
