M7400 WIFI CONNECTION

Postby CGL » Fri Jun 21, 2013 6:40

Hello there,
i cannot connect to the internet with my AMILO M7400. i followed the advice about enabling in the BIOS and ensured that the speed was not too high. my 1394 connection status is is 'connected' at 400.0 Mbps but no packets are being sent or received.
when i try to connect using an ethernet cable the network connections dail up properties info tells me that 'modem removed - Unavailable device (COM1)'.
I have recently installed XP then service pack 2.
any advice will be gratefully received

cheers

1394 has nothing to do with network connection - 1394 Net Adaptor Connection is basically Win2k/XP's way of telling you that you have a Firewire interface installed in your system.

"ethernet cable the network connections dail up properties info tells me that 'modem removed ..." ethernet is not a dialup.
Modem is a dialing device no longer used so dont worry about that.

I would check in device manager and see what you have listed in DEVICE MANAGER.~*
Theres some chance you have some listing for other devices and then a list of esclamations under that.

*right click computer click properties then Hardware tab along the top - then click device manager

Here is a pic of the componants you have on this machine
