Scaleo J cant boot and click sounds with light

Postby neneefo1 » Tue Apr 09, 2013 23:01

When i try switching my scaleo j desktop on, the storage device, cd rom, usb card reader, n keyboard lights start blinking with a continues click sound. This can continue for up to 2 hours before the machine boots. Even after booting, from time to time the click sound starts and the machine automatically restarts. What can be wrong?

The hard drive has a mechanical arm inside and when the drive fails you can sometimes describe this as a clicking/clunking noise.

Well the failure of the mechanical arm explains the click sound thanks but thats just a signal that samtin is wrong since all storage devices with lights blink too and the machine fails to boot. Can that be the bios? I have replaced the RAM n still it persists.

When a hard drive fails it can do all kinds of things one of them is in your description. Blue screens, sudden reboots in windows with no warning, clunking /clicking noise. Run a Hard drive check from the manufacturers website if your not sure what mae of hard drive you have enter Bios via F2 or Del on startup and under HDD it should list it as SGT(seagate) HIT***(hitachi) etc
seagate:http://www.seagate.com/gb/en/support/downloads/seatools/
Hitachi http://www.hgst.com/support/downloads/ (i think WD hard drives aswell/)
