D3128-A15 motherboard defaulting to 1333MHz memory speed on 1600MHz sticks

Postby Triophile » Wed Mar 16, 2022 18:44

Hi, guys, hope you're all keeping well.

I bought a D3128-A15 motherboard a while back, to build a PC around, and having got the machine up and running now, I'm having a problem with the 4 x 2GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM being run at only 1333MHz by the motherboard.

I've populated the correct slots on the mobo as per the motherboard's user manual, and whether I try using a pair of sticks, or all four, they default to a speed of 1333MHz, according to the BIOS. The sticks themselves are Geil single-sided ones, with timings of 9-9-9-28 at 1.5V.

As the mobo is posting, I see that it flashes up a message along the lines of "Untested memory, warranty restricted". I'm hoping it's not the case that the mobo defaults to a lower memory speed for sticks it recognises as not being officially approved, as I don't remember the manual mentioning anything about that.

Any help getting the sticks running at their rated speed would be much appreciated.

Many thanks, Jon.

Hello,

Thank you for contacting Fujitsu Support
The clock rate is controlled automatically, there is no manual setting, e.g. in the bios.
and the memory controller is integrated in processor.
If you use a CPU with 1333 MHz, 1600 MHz memory modules will be clocked down to 1333 MHz.
The Celsius M720 with D3128 Mainbord is since 09/2019 end of service.
No further updates and support.
