Lifebook E5510 Touchpad doesn't work with UBUNTU

Postby presley » Mon May 03, 2021 14:01

Hi,
I just replaced my old lifebook U series, with an E5510. The problem is that when installing either Ubuntu 18 or 20, the touchpad does not work.
Note that I have always used ubuntu because of the requirements of the development platform that I work with. So I currently have big problems of slowness because windows is not adapted.
I need support to solve this problem.
Thanks

Hello :)

Ubuntu is not supported operating system on this device.
We would recommend contacting or searching Ubuntu support sites for similar issue or report a bug to Ubuntu developers:

no problem to get this working. just a little tweaking.
Ubuntu is good :-)

please do watch out for my other posts about Linux in the german lifebook section.
Lifebook Touchpad Keyboard issues.
Keywords ELAN, i2c-hid, i2c_hid

Easy to fix I promise to you ...

start with kernel module i2c_hid then i2c_hid_acpi (the underscore is actually a dash in the name of the module itself).

If you really do not find a way just let me know - I just got a 5510 and 5511 working ;-) send me some message we get it fixed, quite sure.
