CELSIUS M730 memory support is not clear

Postby motkany » Wed Mar 17, 2021 19:35

Dear all,

What memory types are supported by Celsius M730 Workstation?
I am confused, because I found manuals describing it supports only UDIMM however I found other papers (seems like brochure) that stated it handles other types:

In official mainboard manual I found only udimm is supported.
DOC >DOCUMENTATION > MAINBOARDS (official)
https://support.ts.fujitsu.com/IndexDownload.asp?lng=hu

This paper of M730 mentions registered dimms and also 1866MHz, not just 1600.
https://www.bechtle.co.uk/medias/pWitA7eS2Xo4pwT9CBYV58-30.pdf
Memory modules
4 GB (1 module(s) 4 GB) DDR3, ECC, 1866 MHz, PC3-14900
4 GB (1 module(s) 4 GB) DDR3, non-ECC, 1600 MHz, PC3-12800
8 GB (1 module(s) 8 GB) DDR3, registered, ECC, 1866 MHz, PC3-14900
16 GB (1 module(s) 16 GB) DDR3, registered, ECC, 1866 MHz, PC3-14900

amazon also marks a registered dimm product as compatible with M730.

I am aware that there are more series of d3128 mainboard (A and B line). Maybe this is the root of the confusion. The mainbord of my m730 is D3128-A25 GS 1.

Can someone clear these things?

Hello :)

Mainboard D3128 supports memory modules:
- unbuffered non-ECC and ECC memory modules
- DDR3 800 / 1066 / 1333 /1600 memory interface
1866MHz modules should be detected as 1600MHz.

Best regards,

Thanks for the reply.
But how about this one?

As I see he uses DDR3-1866, ECC, PC3-14900R, 2Rx8, CL13, 240 pin in Celsius M730n. (what is "M730n"? typo?)

and also here:

I decided to buy RDIMM modules. After a week of usage I can say they work well.
Making it searchable, what I am using:

Type Detail Registered
Type DDR3
Total Width 72-bit
Size 8 GB
Serial Number 4254484C
Ranks 2
Part Number M392B1K70CM0-
Max. Clock Speed 1333 MT/s
Manufacturer Samsung
Form Factor DIMM
Device Locator Node0_Dimm0
Data Width 64-bit
Current Clock Speed 1333 MT/s
Bank Locator Node0_Bank0
Asset Tag Dimm0_AssetTag

The exact model is 4x8GB Samsung M392B1K70CM0-YH9
For 40USD I got 5 modules (used) :D
