Hyper-V correct settings in BIOS - Celsius W480

Postby alexisperr » Thu Oct 15, 2020 19:26

Hi,

I am unable to install Hyper-V services in Windows 10 because it says it is "Virtualisation support is disabled in the firmware"

What are the correct BIOS settings?

Dear alexisperr

Can you provide us with information about any other details of the equipment that you find suitable? This will facilitate our team in providing you with the most accurate information.

Also, we are not able to see the images your sending. can you try to add them again?

Look forward to hearing back from you!

Hi, I updated the pictures.

My product is CELSIUS W480,
my BIOS is **********

I am not sure I am allowed to disclose the serial number of my product.

Hello and thank you for your contact.

To use Hyper-V or other virtual machines emulating software you need to enable virtualization technology (CPU feature).
In Celsius W480 it is possible to do that in BIOS:
1. Enter the BIOS setup (F2) during the boot.
2. Navigate to ADVANCED tab and enter: Advanced Processor Options.
3. Set the Virtualization Technology (VT-X) to: ENABLE

Reboot machine, install and run Hyper-V.

We also agree to keep the serial number of your device private. If you would like more support from Fujitsu CCD Team, please open a new case by support portal or call center. You may be asked for SN there but Fujitsu Support is obligated to keep your serial number with the highest confidentiality as without it we can´t provide comprehensive and effective support.
But we don´t recommend to disclose serial numbers in public.

I don't understand.
I have checked VT-x and all VT-d in the BIOS,

and still Windows 10 says: Virtualization Enabled in Firmware: No

What is going on? It used to work before. I have Windows 10 Version 1909.

Dear alexisperr

Windows 10 may be the issue in this case as this version of Windows was not tested nor released with W480.

This may be an incompatibility between Windows and BIOS.
The best would be to check this issue with Windows 7.

Best regards

I succeeded, that was difficult.

The key is to

- enable VT-x
- disable Trusted Execution Technology
- disable VT-d
- enable NX Memory Protection

Then you have to power OFF completely, not reset.
