Upgrade PSU on a W530

Postby RobMcP » Sun Jan 22, 2017 19:23

I need to upgrade my W530 graphics card. Unfortunately it needs a PSU upgrade too.
The graphics card needs extra power to it via a 6 pin molex the motherboard has a 16 pin molex type plug to it. The sticking point is the existing 300W PSU has a PC2009 fan control plug to it, this is an 8 pin plug but only has 3 wires to it, red, blue and black.
I don't seem to be able to find a PSU that has anything like this on it.

Any one have any experience of upgrading this model workstation?
The tech PDF for the W530 does mention a PSU option with a 12v graphics rail so I presume there is one available somewhere but the PC2009 plug is not commonly mentioned on the web.
Thanks.

The mainboard doesn't have a standard ATX power connector. You need the Fujitsu 500W 90+ PSU designed for Celsius W530 POWER. It will have a 6 pin power supply for the graphics card (you'll also need the modular cable).

Thank you Tom I seem to be having issues finding parts but I am working on it. Is this something you have done, or did you obtain that PSU as part of a new PC?

UPDATE.
I don't suppose you have a photo / diagram / tech information about the makeup of this PSU, such as leads out of it?

I have found the information on the data sheet of that model, you can see on page 5 it has a 17A@12V dedicated rail for the GPU.

For images and such, you can search online using the part number "S26113-E567-V50-2" or "DPS-500XB A". It's also possible to order it from Fujitsu partners in your country.

Tom,

Thanks for the information. I had already managed to find the PDF hence I knew there was 'somewhere' a higher powered version of the PSU.

The numbers you supplied are VERY helpful. I've found some decent images of the unit and can see that they have the same plugs out as the ones I need. Most search results come up on the continent in Euros, though I will 'speak' to EAF who are a UK based supplier.

Much appreciated. If I manage to get the upgrade working I'll update here with any problems or hints I find on the way that might help others.
Regards, Rob.

Sorry to resurrect the thread.

I have to upgrade my graphics card too, but unfortunately, I need at least TWO graphics power rails. Now, since fujitsu does not produce any PSU with 2 graphics power rails for the w530, I was wondering if I could buy some adapter for a standard atx psu toward the mainboard. Is there anything like that?

Thanks.
