[D556] CPU upgrade fail... please help

Postby mihauuu » Thu Sep 21, 2023 11:47

Hello guys :)
I need your advice on how to upgrade the CPU on a D556/E85+ (D3430, SKYLAKE H110 MoBo).
I got some experience with PC harware and OC from the past, but I have failed here.
The initial PC setup was: Intel G4400 CPU, no harddrive, 4GB DDR4.
I liked to upgrade, so I ordered some parts: Intel i3-7100 https://www.cpu-world.com/sspec/SR/SR35C.html, 2x8GB DDR (GoodRam Iridium), 120GB SSD (Toshiba). O/S is Win10 PRO.
The PC did not want to boot  (black screen, fan goes 100%) after upgrade. Unfortunately it turned that this CPU is not even on the compatibility list with this model, so I ordered another one: i5-6500. https://www.cpu-world.com/sspec/SR/SR2L6.html
This doesnt work too...  I am surprised. If I switch to the original G4400 (with other upgrades present), the PC works just fine. BIOS is the latest from Fujitsu homepage. Did not find an beta-BIOS anywhere.
CPU compatibility list: https://www.fujitsu.com/global/products/computing/pc/desktops/esprimo-d556-e85/
Any idea what what I am doing wrong  ? Or where to get (modded) BIOS? The G4400 CPU is passive colled, maybe the MoBo needs an dedicated CPU-fan present on the system to run an i5-6500?
Any advice or clue will be appreciated...
