Old Esprimo that start unexpectedly

Postby steveis2 » Thu Apr 13, 2023 18:22

Hi,
I've just got an old Esprimo E5731 E-stars5 which has an E7500 CPU and a 160G hard drive.
My question is as follows. On plugging it into the mains supply it seems to carry out a self test power up and then switches itself off. However sometimes it doesn't switch itself off and goes on to boot into the operating system without me pressing the power switch.
I presume this is a fault, but I'm not sure what could cause it. A faulty power switch, a power supply problem, I don't know. Any ideas would be welcome about how to identify the problem or how to fix it.

Regards Steve

Hello :)

Thank you for your contact.

The Power-On Self Test (POST), is performed by a computer system everytime they are turned on. This is not an unintended behavior.

As for the E5731 model due to the End of Support Life status, the available information specific to the system model can be found in FTS support site and using the serial number (use the Select a new Product option then downloads).

In case you have any other question, don't hesitate to contact us.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
The continuing to boot after the self test without me pressing the on switch was due to a setting in the bios. Once changed the problem disappeared.

Hello and thank you for contact with Fujitsu Forum Support!

Kindly please make sure to have the below BIOS settings as provided and check the issue again:

1.Enter the BIOS (on boot with F2 key)
2. Navigate:
BIOS -> Power -> Power Failure Recovery: Disabled or Always Off

This will prevent from going into the boot, after the shutdown.
