Corrupted BIOS q520

Postby truzzman » Fri Feb 11, 2022 11:01

Unfortunately during the BIOS update the power cable was disconnected and the BIOS got corrupted. The pc does not start, screen inactive, 4 beeps repeated continuously.
I would like to know how to solve it seems to me that there is a BIOS recovery procedure by setting the dip switch 2 to on but I don't understand what to do next. Alternatively, is it possible to flash the BIOS directly on the chip that contains it with an external Programmer?

Motherboard D3223-A11

Thanks

Hello and thank you for your contact.

UEFI recovery procedure for Esprimo Q520:
1. Set the dip switch from DEFAULT to UEFI recovery position (see attached picture for both positions: q520-dipswitch.JPG)
2. Download the BIOS admin package for your Mainboard:
D3223-A1x - Admin package - Compressed Flash Files V4.6.5.4 - R1.47.0 (26/08/2019):
https://support.ts.fujitsu.com/IndexDow ... E48CA5316A
3. Create a bootable FreeDOS USB Flash Drive. Please select the following link to make your USB stick bootable with Free DOS.
http://support.ts.fujitsu.com/Download/ ... 0&Info=FTS
4. Extract all files of the downloaded BIOS Admin package to a bootable FreeDOS. Unzip it the Admin package into the folder "DOS" and the file ".rom" on a bootable USB stick (see attached picture: q520-extract.JPG).
5. Boot from USB bootstick.
6. Type the command "dosflash.bat"
7. You will be asked, if you want to continue flash update. Press "Y" for yes.
8. When the recovery is finished, switch off the system, put the dip switch in its default position and reboot the system.

Sorry but I'm unable to view attached image.
On mainboard there are 4 dip switch, I read somewhere that for recovery I need tu put ON the switch 2
Is it correct?

Anyway, when I switch on the pc (when I insert the energy plug the pc start automaticlly), the screen is always black, no video signal.

Thanks

No way........is a pitty.

The big problem is that the monitor remain whitout signal, totally black, and always three short beep (beep beep beep, pause, beep beep beep, pause, beep beep beep etc. etc.)

I lost power during bios update.

:? :?

Greetings. I did everything as written. Prepared a FAT32 flash drive with FreeDOS (Using the "FTS_Basic-BootStick.EXE" tool), put all the BIOS files from the AdminPackage in the root of the flash drive, as described in the manual (Including the "DOS" folder), turned off the mains power, moved the jumper to the automatic recovery position turned on the computer. The download really went from a flash drive, but in the end I just saw the command line prompt "C:\", that is, no automatic recovery started! What am I doing wrong?

And yes, the BIOS on the USB flash drive is of exactly the previous version than the one installed in the system (This, as far as I understood from the manual, is a condition for initiating the automatic recovery process, without user intervention and displaying information on the screen).

If I understand correctly from reading similar threads, the auto-recovery method doesn't actually work on Fujitsu motherboards, or the guide provided is not entirely complete. And in the case, for example, when the BIOS is broken and the computer does not start (No screen output), you can not rely on this method ("It was smooth on paper, forgot about the ravines") and immediately purchase a programmer? Or does the method still work, just the guide is not entirely accurate and some additional steps are required that are not written about here?
