Esprimo Q920 ETH-Flaw

Postby tbuske » Mon Dec 28, 2020 11:54

Hi guys,

I have a big problem and maybe someone here can help me.

First of all a video of my problem:
https://youtu.be/zRQAIzdwbmE

- Both units are completely identical, an Esprimo Q920 with i3-4710T.
- I bought both used and they are so close from the MAC address (only last number is different) and serial number, that they were probably bought and used together.
- Therefore BIOS build and settings are completely the same.

Now I have the problem, with the one unit (left in the video) the ETH adapter does not go in 1000baseT. You can see it nicely when booting, how both behave differently.

- No hard disk installed, excludes driver problems on OS level
- BIOS reset of both
- External influences (cable, router) I can exclude (swapping also for the other device to 1000baseT)

Can someone estimate what is going on? Hardware defect maybe? 100baseT works normal under Debian 10, if I change it with ethtools to 1000 the network port stays mute and doesn't blink anymore.

Hello and thank you for contact :)

As the two units are almost identical you need to exclude driver problems (software issues) or problems with the hardware.

Without serial numbers, we are unable to tell what the difference may be in this case (if any).

My suggestion is to check only a single device (the left one) and contact Fujitsu Technical Support in case the problem persists.

Best regards,
