Lifebook S935 battery capacity sudden degradation

Postby northpole12 » Tue Jan 05, 2021 12:21

My Lifebook S935 hardware is impeccable and has been doing great all these years.

Recently I noticed that the battery didn't last long as it used to be few days ago. I charged them fully and let it drain to measure the backup duration. To my shock the battery lasted just 25-30 mins. I tried this several times and got same results. I ran the 'powercfg /batteryreport' and 'powercfg /energy' commands and found that the battery has reached to 8,726mWh capacity, which is almost negligible. It can’t possibly come down to 17% within few days. Below are the details:

Code: Select all

powercfg /BATTERYREPORT output:

BIOS: Version 1.20 07/14/2020
OS BUILD: Windows 10 Pro 19041.1.amd64fre.vb_release.191206-1406
Installed batteries
Information about each currently installed battery
NAME: CP673057-01
MANUFACTURER: Fujitsu
SERIAL NUMBER: 01A-Z150421006646Z
CHEMISTRY: LION
DESIGN CAPACITY: 51,120 mWh
FULL CHARGE CAPACITY: 8,726 mWh

“powercfg /ENERGY” output:

Battery:Last Full Charge (%)
The battery stored less than 40% of the Designed Capacity the last time the battery was fully charged.
Battery ID: 01A-Z150421006646ZFujitsuCP673057-01
Design Capacity: 51120
Last Full Charge: 8726
Last Full Charge (%): 17

Have executed this command several times in last few years. The last time it showed capacity was around 50-65%. I am not sure why it would degrade so bad.

I recollect installing several updates and patches from Fujitsu were installed a week ago, of which one of them was this: FUJITSU Battery Control Update Tool. Note there wasn't any ‘battery deteriorated’ message during execution of this update.

My Lifebook S935 is 5 years old and I used to get 12 hours backup when it was new and it gracefully came down to 3-4 hours till last month. Which I believe is quite ok for it's use.

Request Fujitsu support to help.
Would like to see if others are facing similar problem.
