AH531 Problem Starting from Jan 2013

Postby maskme » Mon Feb 04, 2013 17:51

Hi to all

In Jan 2013, I renewed my AVG antivirus, and from that day onwards my AH531/GFO lifebook has been acting weird. Whatever application i try to open, the screen freezes for few seconds and resumes back. Similar if I'm typing, the delay is few seconds, then all the characters appear.

I uninstalled AVG antivirus, i ran RAM Memory check via www.memtest.org/
I ran check disk errors, I ran fragmentation tools, but of no help.

What do you think I should do, should i take it to a service center or should i re-format my laptop to a new Install?

Please advise me quickly

Please run the SystemDiagnostics DOS tool here - http://tinyurl.com/sysdiags
Burn the iso image to blank media and boot from it. Choose a quick check if no fault run a full check (will take longer)
If all ok full reformat and re-install of your OS

Dear Sabrex

I did as you suggested, please find attached the Camera Picture. There is no issues in the result if you can see.

Also I Restored my Laptop to Factory Default.

Still the problem persists.

However, when i hold my laptop and turn it sideways i hear some screw shifting from one position to another like a ball would roll.

Please help.

No your code it came back with shows a B12 which is RAM failure. Since memtest did not find a problem I am more inclined to think it more serious most processor (CPU I7-2640M 2800 ) now have memory dealing so it could be this especialy now your unit is not "posting" - the loose item inside may be metallic and caused a short. Try and remove the battery and the mains and then remove the service panel underneath and see if you cant get that loose item out. I cant stress it enough if something is loose this needs to be dealt with straight away.

Dear Sabrex

Sorry for late reply due to the issues I'm facing with my laptop.

I managed to remove the Screw from the laptop which had fallen from Processor FAN, can you believe this? Manufacturing defect.

I removed Hard Disk and checked using CD Drive (loaded with Windows XP) whether the PC has an issue with Processor, RAM or some other issue, but it worked very well.

I then placed back the hard disk again. But same problem started and my Hard Disk indicator keeps showing READING position, hardly ever the HDD indicator goes off.

Is this a Hard Disk issue, but i check using CHKDSK and there was no bad sectors or anything.

What could the problem be.
Do reply.

Im glad you got the screw are you able to put the screw back in the place it came from?
Its not a factory defect as the unit shipped around late 2011.
Could be hard disk since the problem begins after you put the hard disk back in. However DIFS diagnostic says all good.
Can you try another hard disk ?

Hi Sabrex

Yes i was able to put the screw back on the fan processor.

I'm running Checking Disk Data on Partition Drive D and its now 18 Hours and still it is running. Though the progress is there. But the LED of HDD is constant Blue. Does not even rest for a bit.

However the freezing still persists on every movement I make in PC.

If I purchase a new HDD, will I be able to restore Windows 7 from the Bootable Disk which I had made when Fujitsu asked me to make. Will it work? Or will it search for the old HDD to continue with.

Do I've to get the same Brand Hard Disk toshiba or any would do? Is any specific requirement?

Please do let me know

you can use any 2.5 hard drive in this machine. you could even go for a SSD 120gb if you wanted. Samsung 830 do one for notebook and comes with ghost so you can copy your hard drive to the new one. If you have made a 3 DVD recovery set it should work if you obtain any 2.5 normal spin disk.

the "However the freezing still persists on every movement I make in PC" are you saying when you move the unit it will freeze does it do this when the hdd you have is out of the machine?

Yes I've made the 3 DVD set.

The freezing happens when HDD is put on, when I pull it off and run Windows XP via CD ROM, it does not freeze. It is nothing to do when I move the laptop and it freezes, only when opening a new application, or absolutely doing anything on the PC it freezes.

Dear Sabrex

Changing the HDD did solve the problem, its back to normal, no freezing, and HDD LED indicator is now blinking normally.

Thanks for all your valuable help without which it could not have been solved.
