AH530 and HDMI - no movie sound on TV

Postby Steinspecht » Sat Dec 29, 2012 10:48

Hello,
when connecting the AH530 to a TV via HDMI I get a picture but no sound.
When using the control panel test function I hear the bings on the TV, but when starting a movie there is no sound.

I use Windows 7 Home Premium x64
Sound driver is Realtek V6.0.1.5969
Graphics driver is Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD V8.15.10.2025

Drivers are up to date.

The Realtek panel shows no option for HDMI or SPDIF, just the plain speakers.
On the Windows control panel however the attached Samsung TV is shown. Making it the default output device has no effect.

Would be great if someone could give me a clue!

Thanks,
Steinspecht

If you intend to use the HDMI output as your primary output and want the audio routed along the
HDMI cable then you will need to change the default audio device from the Windows Vista Control(same in Windows 7)
Panel. Please note that by doing this audio will no longer be routed to your existing speakers, only
down the HDMI cable, until you reverse the procedure.

You may have to right click in the empty space on the playback section and make sure "show disabled devices" and "show disconnected devices" also ticked

This is what mine looks like at home.

If still have no listing - http://www.realtek.com.tw/
download and run 64bits Vista, Windows7, Windows8 Driver only (Executable file) R2.70 2012/6/22

Thanks for your very comprehensive answer.

Setting the Samsung to standard did the trick - I had thought I've done that.

A good 2013 to you!
