Fujitsu Esprimo P5731 supported memory type

Postby Demontager » Wed Oct 05, 2016 13:24

Hi guys!
3 days ago i bought second-hand Fujitsu Esprimo P5731 with Intel Quad Q9550 4x2.81GHz (12M)
and without memory, because i planned to install mine. But when i inserted

Code: Select all

Kingston KVR13N9S8/4 4Gb PC3-10600 CL9 240- Pin DIMM

PC won't even start and speaker making noise like memory faulty, sure no picture output too.
I checked my kingston memory specification and found that it requires 1.5v and according to this page http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatibl ... imo-p5731# should be 1.35v memory. Is it ?

The P5731's mainboard memory lane is rated for 1,5V so voltage should not be an issue.

Could you describe the beep code you are getting?
Are you using the RAM slot closest to the CPU ? Have you tried to clear CMOS/bios settings ?

Since the kingston stick you are using is rated for 1333hz freq, you could try using a 1066Hz stick to check if that could be the issue.

The beeping coming from speaker like 3 or 4 shots.
And yes seems voltage not an issue because i also tried

Code: Select all

Kingston KVR16LN11/4    4GB PC3L-12800 CL11 240-Pin UDIMM

which has double voltage support 1.5 or 1.35 and same problem.

I tried to insert RAM into all slots, and also cleared CMOS by reinserting battery.
The guy who sold me PC told that these modules tested to work on that PC https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/ ... TJJQWt0Mk0

But they are 2 gb capacity i need 4.

The beep sound is very useful, I recommend counting the beeps accurately.

Beep codes for Phoenix bios can be found online, if you have 1-1-1-1 (1 beep, pause, 1, pause, 1, pause, 1) that indicates a potential RAM problem so the only course of action would be to try with different RAM sticks (or test your sticks on another working PC).

Another experiment you could try is to power on with no RAM installed (also disconnect all PCIe cards and SATA drives) and see what beep code you get. If you get a different code it could indicate a problem with the motherboard or CPU.

EDIT: For some reason I was looking at specs for board D3011-A instead of D3011. Please see me@work's post.

According to the Board's short description, pg. 24, the memory modules should satisfy these limitations:

You may use only unbuffered 1.5 V memory modules without ECC. DDR3 memory modules must meet the PC3-6400U or PC3-8500U specification.

If the SPD identification chips on your memory modules do not provide proper timings for lower speeds, then BIOS is unable to initialize them.

You are actually using very latest BIOS version for the board, are you?

BTW:
How many of your modules do you try to install?
In case you were opting for a TOTAL size of 4GB, then 2x 2GB would suffice as well.
In case you were opting for 16GB, then you could try with one (or two modules) first. And please check the <I>nformation on the manual's page mentioned above.

BTW2:
This is the German part of the forum. There's an English language section available, too.

I don't know which BIOS version there as unable to start PC.
I'm sure motherboard is ok, as before sending guy tested work on his memory and PC was OK.
So how may i know memory meet PC3-6400U or PC3-8500U specification. ?
I have these:

Code: Select all

Kingston KVR16LN11/4    4GB PC3L-12800 CL11 240-Pin UDIMM
Kingston KVR13N9S8/4 4Gb PC3-10600 CL9 240- Pin DIMM

When i start without memory it making same noise.

ps. Sorry, I'm not german speaking, i'm from ukraine.

Oh, dear...

How well do you know that "sending guy"? Perhaps he's willing to provide you with the "working" module(s) for a test.

Regarding specification information for your Kingston modules, plus their timing configuration data for lower bus speed, you might want to ask Kingston.
Did you try these 4GB modules successfully in another board already? Or do you rely on other persons' statements on their functionality as well?

Finally i got it working. The problem was in memory type. That PC supports dual-side memory chips only. I took PC to laptop/PC maintenance workshop where guys checked it with deferent memory modules and found that only old double-sided works fine.
So now i put 4 PCs of such memory (16Gb total)

Code: Select all

4GB PC3-10660 CL=9-9-9-24
GN34GB1333C9S   1.5V
P/N F028-SNG000252
GEIL

So far running smooth on high load, i like it cooling system it running very quietly.
