Loox 720 Battery discharge when switched off

Postby reje » Thu Nov 17, 2005 10:50

If I leave my Loox 720 off for a few days the battery becomes fully discharged (both main and backup battery) and the 720 returns to the factury default state (ie all data lost). This is incredibly frustrating. Is this a known "feature" or a fault with my device??

This is perfectly normal - neither a bug nor a 'feature'. The off switch on a Pocket PC is actually a 'suspend' switch. Since programs and data are stored in RAM memory, the battery needs to continue to power the RAM even when the device is 'off' - or the contents of the memory would be lost.
If you are not going to be using your Loox for a while - plug-in the charger (or insert the Loox into the cradle). It is perfectly safe to leave it charging.

FirstLoox - home of the Pocket Loox community

That is terrible!
Guess FSC should think about a design change.
I would not like to loose data by depending on poor batteries.
