Can't play mp3 from network directory

Postby Wollonfgong » Sun Nov 13, 2005 20:45

Hi,
I have installed a private WLAN to which I connect with my PocketLOOX 710, using E2C. Internet works fine, I can also browse files on disks of other PCs on this network.I also can copy files to my LOOX. But I cannot play mp3's which are located on my desktop's harddisk. I always have to copy them to my LOOX first. Tried Windows Media Player, Pocket Music and GSPlayer.
I am not a big expert, can someone help me please?!

I had the very same problem (even thought about ditching my pocket loox for a linux based PDA) until today I found this solution in someone's blog
http://blogs.ssw.com.au/joehardy/archive/2004/07/28/288.aspx
This tool sets up a "fake" directory on the local filesystem which points to the directory on the remote server. Applications like GSPlayer, Windows Media Player etc. then "see" files on the remote server like they were files on the local file system.
Regards,
Patrick
