Postby Igor Sobrado » Sat Aug 18, 2001 13:57

I am interested in getting the last
single correction service for the
operating system described in the
subject of this thread.
(1) Where can I get these patches?
(2) If it is not possible, how can I
upgrade the operating system release
of my -old but really useful- server?
Thanks in advance for any help,
Igor.
--
Igor Sobrado, UK34436 - sobrado@acm.org

The server was sent to me with the right operating system media (SINIX-P 5.41 A10) but without the boot floppy. I think that I cannot go to the PROM monitor through sash without that floppy.
Can you provide me some information about the files that are required in that floppy? I can try to build one using my SPARC workstation or my Unix-based laptop! I can extract the operating system files from the three streamer tapes from the SPARC box and, I hope, to build a bootable one!
I am interested in a most recent release of SINIX for that server (an old RM600-xx) too.

quote:

EKS can be found at: http://its.siemens.de somewhere below technical information.

I only found the EKS for the release 5.42,
not for the release 5.41. But in the FAQ I found that patches for SINIX-P 5.41 was available some time ago.
I am the maintainer of all the binary distributions of tcpdump (a network monitor) and libpcap for Unix, and I am contributing to the development of some binaries of C-Kermit with Columbia University, NY. This server will be useful for the development of these free-available tools, and I have spent a lot of money in the transport to Spain.
Cheers,
Igor.
--
Igor Sobrado, UK34436 - sobrado@acm.org
