HDD troubles by Checkdisk

My configuration: XP on Amilo D.<BR>The system recommand to defragment HD, but proceed only about 15%.<BR>Disk Checker is unable to run in autofix mode, displaying: "errors found. Vol C: is in use by another application".<BR>As far I know, only the autostart parts of Norman AV are runing (those you can't switch off).<BR>Can anybody help me, please?

I might be wrong, but I think this is because XP itself is using the disk. I have seen a similar message, but it gave me the option of scheduling a scan on next boot-up. When I ticked this, on next boot it did a full scan before fully loading XP.<BR>If you haven't go this option, I think you have 2 other things to try.<P>Press F8 when booting, boot to dos prompt and run checkdisk from there.<P>Or load up the recovery console (presumably you have an XP recovery CD you can boot from to get this) and then run checkdisk.<P>Good kuck
