Just to explain:
The "P6 Patch" is a Microcode update. Each Intel CPU has a "version number", and for each version there is a microcode patch that is supposed to fix certain flaws in the CPU. So the BIOS Update looks for the CPU "Version", then looks for a file on the Disk that has a microcode update for this version.
Your Version is "683", but the BIOS diskette only has the microcode updates for CPUs that were in existance at the time the disk was created.
So you may do 2 things
a) copy the file from the archive that I linked to the BIOS Bootdisk and try again
b) first run the "P6 Update Disk" that is created by the linked archive, afterwards do the BIOS Update with your standard disk
By the way: This is not a bug, but a feature. Most other BIOSes from other Manufacturers come with a fixed number of microcode patches preinstalled and you can't change them. So if a Product is discontinued you cannot get new BIOes to support new CPUs. Most of these BIOSes won't say a word if they don't have the right Microcode Update ... they simply won't update the CPU's Microcode. So you'll have to live with all flaws etc.
With SNI/Siemens/FSC Mainboards all you have to do is get the regularily updated P6 Update Disk, and voila - an old BIOS will have the right Microcode Update for a new CPU.
