Low Noise Mode on Primergy RX300 S7 doesn't work

Postby fabio.accordini » Thu Aug 16, 2012 22:36

Hi everyone, I've just bought a new RX300 S7 server and I'd to activate the "Low Noise Mode" setting in the BIOS, but every time I set it on "enable" and save nothing change and returning in the BIOS let me show that that setting is on "disable" again. The other strange thing is that I can't find that voice in the web page of irmc. Any suggestion or istruction?!?

Thnks

1. Check for latest BIOS Version installed
2. Try to Enable CPU Speedstep with Energy Performance set to Balanced Energy or Energy Efficient
Then try to set Low Noise Mode again

bye

I've just installed the last BIOS firmware and iRMC firmware butnothing change. This evening I'll try the Speedsetp way in the BIOS then I'll let you know.
Thanks for your answer Skylark!

Hi, checking BIOS settings I've found that I should set CPU power settings on custom to be able to see Speedstep config and so on. I've done as you said, put "energy efficient" and then BIOS keeps the 'enable' on the "Low Noise Mode" but.... nothing's changed!!.... What's wrong? I've tried to set the power consumption on the remote console in iRMC but always no changes... I've missed something? Got some more suggestion Skylark?

Good to know that I'm not the only one... Have you tried to contact Fujitsu? In my tries always redir to other "local partner" but no answers till now.

Ok, if you got usefull info by Fujitsu let me know. This weekend I'll try some more combinations of settings in BIOS...
After have the Low Noise Mode setting finally enable in BIOS did you find it somewhere in the remote management?!? I didn't...

I got some information.

There are some restrictions to use the Low Noise Mode. The Systems scans itself before its allowing the Low Noise Mode.

LNM is only selectable with following restrictions:

·      CPU(s) max 80W TDP

·      Only 1 DIMM per channel

·      Only one PCIe controller in internal RAID slot 0

·      Reduced fan speed only if Temparture ambient is <25°C

So pls check your System rg CPU and Dimm i guess thats the point...

Hi Tiderian, thanks for your preciuos informations. By them, now, I can understand why nothing seems to work in LNM. I'll check my system but I think I'm not covering 2/3 of 4 points....
