Primergy RX300 S2 OS Compatibility

Good Morning to all,

I want to install Microsoft Windows 7 Enterprise x32 in Primergy RX300 S2. Some of you knows if there are any compatibility issue?

Now I'm using Microsoft Windows Server 2008 x32 and In the past I used Microsoft Windows 2003 x32.

If I go in the Fujitsu download support site I can find only these Microsoft OS:
Windows 2000 Advanced Server (supported)
Windows 2000 Server (supported)

How is it possible? I think that when I bought it, it was compatible at least with Win2003 server....

That's quite easy to be explained:

Servers are built for Server Operating Systems. These OSes get tested on Primergy Server systems.

Windows 7 Enterprise, although carrying the term Enterprise in its name, does not come up to this requirement.

If you look in RX300s2 (D1899) instead of RX300s2 (D2089), you will find W2K3 supported. Because an operating system is not listed in these pages does not necessarily mean that it will not work; it just has not been tested on the specific hardware, and therefore is unsupported.

Subsequently, you may well go ahead and try to install Win7 on RX300s2. If it works: fine. In that case, please come back to this forum and share your experience, of course together with a detailed description of the installed hardware ("RX300s2" is just too vague). If it doesn't: Well, bad luck.

So, my server is D2089.

ASAP I will try to install Win7 and I think that will be work fine, my only doubt regarding the Storage Controller MegaRAID SCSI 320-2E... At least I'll come back to Win2008!

Of course that I will share the installation results maybe useful for other users!

I'm running Debian GNU/Linux 6.0.4 (squeeze) on FUJITSU PRIMERGY RX300 S2.

Strange bug that has nothing to do with particular OS: The machine is unable to pass the POST screen and boot into the OS without keyboard being present! Even though BIOS is set not to detect keyboard errors etc... So we ended up with some old keyboard on top of the rack sticked into the mainboard in order to override this silly behaviur.

2/10 of such machines are unable to boot without keyboard!
