Postby leejohnli » Sat Jun 12, 2010 9:11

Experts,
This is my first post here. I hope you could help me out with my problem. I have Primergy TX200 server the problem is after powering on the machine the error occured that it has no valid devices please check your hardware, It seems that the machine didn't find any hard drive on it. Any ideas why this problem occur? do i need to make changes on the BIOS? or do i have a board problem already? Hoping for the help. Tnx

Is this a new machine?
Or a working one that has stopped?
Is this message from the RAID controller during boot, or when attempting to install the operating system
What RAID controller are you using? What disks are you using?
For example, the on-board RAID controller does not support SAS disk.

Tnx for the reply.
This was already an old machine. The machine doesn't have a raid controller even an onboard raid controller. The message occur when attempting to install an operating system whether it is linux or windows server. It seems that i have misconfigured BIOS settings on it. Can you give me the idea on how to wipe and restore the default BIOS settings. Tnx

You can reset the BIOS defaults on the last tab (Exit?) in the BIOS screens.

If there really is no RAID controller, then this must be a very old system - SCSI disks. You may be missing the device drivers.

What Operating system are you attempting to load? Do you have the ServerStart CD that came with the system? Otherwise, check out the downloads website: http://ts.fujitsu.com/support/downloads.html.

I'll go reset the BIOS to check what will happen.
Yes, I'm still using the old system the one using SCSI as disks.
I still have the ServerStart CD. I'm trying to load Linux OS (Ubuntu,RHEL,etc.) no luck to them, and I tried Windows (windows 2000 server, windows 7, windows XP) again no luck to them.

Even the original TX200 (S1) had the Dual Channel Adaptec U320 AIC 7902 HostRAID Controller onboard

Check the settings in the BIOS under Advanced > Peripheral Configuration

Daves suggestion: <F2> BIOS Setup
Advanced
> Peripheral Configuration

SCSI Controller Ch. A : [Enabled]
SCSI Controller Ch. A : [Enabled]
SCSI Option ROM Scan : [Enabled]

this also maybe helpful info: (may differ if its a tx200 S2/s3/s4 /s5)

Starting SCSISelect
To start SCSISelect, follow these steps:
1 Press the Ctrl-A keys simultaneously when the following
prompt appears when you turn on or restart your system:
Press <CTRL>< A> for SCSISelect (TM) Utility!
2 From the device menu that appears, select a channel and press
Enter.
From the Main Options menu, select Configure/View
HostRAID and press Enter.
Note: HostRAID must be enabled for the Configure/View
HostRAID option to appear on the Main Options menu.

then Viewing Array
To view an array, select the array and press Enter.
Maybe the error you get is because theres nothing setup yet on the Controller ie (raid0/raid1 etc) or it is disabled in the bios. Hopefully you did get it sorted in the end.

Hi,

I too have an old TX 200. I'm trying to install MS Server 2000 but I've lost the Server Start CD and Windows complains that it can't find any hard drives.

There's a bewildering amount of drivers on the Fujitsu Support site. Could someone advise which RAID/SCSI drivers I should download to allow Windows to recognise the drives and install. :?:

I've tried a few drivers but these either error when loading or make no different to the installation 'No hard drive' error.

Many thanks,
M.

Naturally it depends on the RAID controller - which in turn depends exactly WHICH old TX200 it is

If it is the original TX200 (S1) with the onboard Adaptec hostraid solution then the driver is probably this one

http://support.ts.fujitsu.com/download/ ... 004&Lng=en

Alternatively, if you have the Adaptec 2010S ZCR controller then the driver may be this one

http://support.ts.fujitsu.com/download/ ... 535&Lng=en

Hi Davie,

Thanks for the quick reply. Sorry, I should have mentioned it's a 2120S controller. All the drivers I've tried don't seem to work.

I'm still getting a "Setup did not find any hard disk drives..." error. :?

Thanks,
M.

How about this one:
http://support.ts.fujitsu.com/download/ShowDescription.asp?SoftwareGUID=98B2B7D3-0DAB-4559-9987-3DF92AB7B193&OSID=3874188A-1B75-4C5C-9CAF-449955058386&Status=False&Component=Adaptec%20SCSI%20RAID%202120S

Sorry, but this can easily be found by navigating to http://support.ts.fujitsu.com, entering the system's serial number (or alternatively choose from the selectors 'Industry Standard Server', 'Primergy TXxxx', 'Primergy TX200'), then make your choice from the supported Operating Systems: 'Microsoft Windows 2000 Server', open SCSI RAID, and select your controller Adaptec SCSI RAID 2120S. The fourth list entry shows the Software Kit 6208, which contains the driver.

I consede that the driver software kit is listed only in this location, and not under 'Windows 2000 Advanced Server', but for the driver, this doesn't make a difference.

Bloody hell that worked! Thanks me@work. :D

I spent ages trying about a dozen drivers but your post directed me to the one I needed. I don't understand what I was doing before, I must be stupid. The only difference was that I had been searching via serial number, not model.

Thanks again,
M.
