Primergy TX200 Server with LSI MegaRAID SCSI 320-X hangs

Postby acheron » Tue Nov 07, 2006 15:34

Hello everybody!

We have a Primergy TX200 server with Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES release 3 installed.
Server has been working for about 2 years without problems.
But on saturday the server had been hung and we wasn't able to log in.
The error message on the console was:

SCSI: aborting command due timeout: pid 3438457, scsi1, channel0, id0, lun0 Read(10) 0000305aef00000800

SCSI1 channel 0: resetting for second half of retries
SCSI bus is being reset for host1 channel 0
megaraid_RESET: 00000000 cmd=28 <c=0.t=0.l=0>, flag=1
SCSI host1 channel0 reset (pid 3438458) timed out - trying harder
SCSI bus is being reset for host1 channel 0
megaraid_RESET: 00347779 cmd=28 <c=0.t=0.l=0>, flag=6
SCSI host1 reset (pid 3438458) timed out again
probably an unrecoverable SCSI bus or device hang

We turned off the server with the reset button.
There was no error in /var/log/messages.

It can be an erroneous raid controller?

Any kind of help will be appreciated.

Hello acheron.

Seems to me like a HW malfunction.
I would contact FSC for a service intervention.

Regards.
