Whats The Best For My PC, GeForce Or Radeon.

Postby 01-cannon-c » Fri Feb 23, 2007 0:14

At the moment ive got a: Nvidia GeForce FX 5500GT AGP Graphics card, and need to upgrade to a better card. I have compared the different cards but i am not sure which one is more suitable for my CPU to handle. I am thinking about buying the XFX 7600GT 256MB AGP card, Or the Radeon X1800 are these cards to good for my CPU.

CPU Specs:
Intel Pentium 4
3.20GHz
1.00GB Ram
Windows XP Home Edition
Service Pack 2.

Hi,

While you might find SOME games to be limited by your CPU, you will certainly find that ANY game will benefit from upgrading your FX5500 to either a 7600GT/X1800.

In my experience, it does not matter if you choose AMD/ATI or Nvidia. Nowadays they both work fine.

No, sorry :)

That depends on what games you play and in what resolutions. One card may be better in HL2 and the other in Oblivion. Check the VGA charts on http://www.tomshardware.com for more info on the performance of those 2 cards.

Thats a tricky question. I *think* that if your AGP slot is 8X today, you will be fine with the new video cards (which are also AGP 8X). However, you *might* need a bigger power supply to feed these new cards.
