The System Beep

Postby ross_YM » Tue Oct 17, 2006 13:20

Hi everyone, my name is Ross and I work for a small specialist insurance brokers. Our office is small with just 5 people working here and we are in a fairly small room.

We have recently had some software upgrades for our new computer system and this seems to have caused my computer in particular to start beeping alot. Mine is the only computer that has done it, and it does it alot. I have spoken to the software developer for our new system, along with the guys that handle the hardware/networking and all the other stuff. No one seems to know how to stop it.

It sounds stupid, but it appears for every error, alert, warning, question or general notification message. The new system does this even more and when im doing my job it can beep about 20 times a minute... After a long day it can get a bit irritating.

It sounds stupid, but its annoying and no one can get rid of it. Ive tried everything (and im fairly technical with computers) short of physically uninstalling the system speaker. Is there anyway to stop it beeping?

Try to do the following:

Go to System Properties -> Hardware -> Device Manager ->
-> tick "Show hidden devices" in the "View" ->
-> you will see "Beep" under "Non-Plug and Play Drivers" ->
-> go to its "Driver" properties and disable it in startup, and you can stop it right away so you would not have to reebot
