[Scenic P300], booting from USB device

Postby tad » Sat Dec 26, 2009 20:58

Hallo,

I am using an old Fujitsu-Siemens Scenic P300 desktop PC
and I would like to boot the operating system from an USB drive
(from a pendrive or USB hard disk).

Now my computer does not give this possibility. When I enter
BIOS and try to change the boot-up devices, there is no
"USB device" option there.

QUESTION:
What should I do in order to extend the capabilities of my PC
by booting from USB devices ?

I suspect, that maybe the BIOS updates available under
http://support.ts.fujitsu.com/com/suppo ... loads.html
could solve my problem, but I cannot understand much from
the descriptions attached. First of all, I cannot find there
anything about booting from pendrive.
My question is, whether any of these BIOS updates would solve
my problem of booting the operating system from USB device.
(I would not like to obtain the answer on experimental way.)

Information about my PC:
Fujitsu-Siemens Scenic P300 (i865G)
2.6 Ghz/512MB RAM/40MB HD
Main board: Intel 865G D1561 version 01
BIOS: 5.00 release 2.02

Greetings,
Tadeusz Foszcz
