[Scenic] Bios Update

Postby potus » Mon Jan 29, 2007 22:13

Can anyone please help with updating the Bios on my Scenic Edition X102? I am unsure which update to download and what to do when I have it on a floppy disc. I downloade one and changed the boot on the bios but got a message saying it was an invalid disc!
Any help would be appreciated! :)
Thanks[/b]

1) Why should you update the BIOS?

- Because... (a clear reason)
1a) Choose the release of the BIOS, where the issue is solved.

- I don't know./Because I want to update it.
1b) Choose the latest release and pray. ;)

2) What to do if the disk does not functioning.

- I've chosen option 1a.
2a) - Try different disk (meaning the plastic ring)
- Try different disk writer/burner meaning a device and a software
- Try different release of the BIOS version (for ex., if you used floppy image, try a CD image then or some other type of BIOS installation utility available)

- I've chosen option 1b.
2b) - Try all options for 2a
- Try to download different version of BIOS (the first earlier than the tried one)

3) Why anything helps me???

3a, 3b, 3c...) Ask a person, who knows about BIOS and its updating, to do this for you. Serve him/her beer. :)

I agree.

Updating the bios is extremely risky if you don't know what you're doing.

What is the specific problem that you have with your machine?

Please post and we will try to help.

Bios Update

Thanks for the reply.
My bios date is 2004 and I note there is a newer update on the site to download. Should I not have the latest Bios on my PC to keep things running smoothly?

Unless you have some current problems or are planning on upgrading your system with something that isn't already supported by your bios, for example a higher spec processor updating the bios isn't neccesary and can somtimes cause major problems.

It may be neccesary if your planning on installing the new m/s vista.

But ABSOLUTLY NOT. for any any other reason than those mentioned.
this is a very different matter than updating device drivers and can cause ireversible damage to your machine.

If you still feel that you want to update get the help of someone who knows what they're doing.
