N600 D1562: Are there any restrictions to SATA port?

Postby misterten » Mon Aug 16, 2010 9:30

I've encountered, that SATA DVD ROM e.g. RAM drives are not recognized by the mainboard's BIOS, are they? Just hard disks are working here and the manual gives no information about DVD drives so I'd like to know! Thanks!

There were 2 variants on that board D1562 (bios ver 4.06 - 1.09 ) and a D1562cXX (Version: 5.00 - 2.14.01 ) only restriction will be in the bios revisions. Variant should be written on the motherboard if your not sure bottom right on siemens boards

Thank you for answering! There's a sticker on hte computer telling me to have a D1562, but I am going to prove my motherboard's revision anyway. Somehow or other: What you like to say is that SATA CD or DVD drives should work on both revisions? If it is so what could be the reason why the drives I have won't work?

Check you variant - download latest bios or make sure your running the latest. try another Sata port on the motherboard likely you have sata port 0 - 1 - 2 - 3 but i havent looked at the board manual. It should always pop up in the bios area and so should your hard drives.
If they are not seen on any port what Power SUpply you got 200w? 300w ? could be a low PSU.
Thats all i can think of right now

BIOS is latest, installed the latest downloaded one anyway, but no change. If tried both of the two SATA ports, no success. I wasn't able to see what power the supply gives. Is there no standard in these PC systems? I have no other one to give it a try.
