Postby ducaducaduc » Sun Jan 22, 2006 8:49

Hi all, just a daft question,if I download the bios updates for a D1170 mainboard onto a floppy, will the floppy update my bios?Or do I need a specific updater program to do the job for me?

Neither this nor that.

You need to download the update (it is a .exe file), then run it. It will create a bootable floppy disk. Boot from this Floppy, everything you need is on it. You will be told what to do by the bootdisk.

Sorry, from your description I don't really see what happened. Have you already booted from the floppy or are you stil trying to get the bootable floppy created?

Hi again,
created boot disk, this is what happens:
Post 2000 updates
all ok to finding update area.
update area...done
loading fileP6-068A.004
P6.0686.004
P6.0683.004
P6.0681.004
P6.0665.004
NO SUCH FILE
TRYING *.SNI...
P6.0665.SNI:
NO SUCH FILE OR DIR
A:\A:\
Tried pre 2000 updates with pretty much the same effect.
It's for a celeron 1000 processor,nothing too special,already have a D1170 running a pentium 3 1000 in the house-any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Phil

Ah, OK, so the BIOS update is OK, only the microcode update is not finding the correct file. Try this disk:
