Fujitsu hard Drive has wrong firmware upgrade

Postby bindlestiff7 » Thu Mar 01, 2007 14:51

I have an MPG3204AT disk which has been given the wrong firmware. XP can see the disk when I first look in Control Panel admin tools, but as soon as I try to access the drive it vanishes from the disk listing.

Anyone got any ideas on recovery - or is it a File B job?

Anyone know why a post would jump (or be moved) from PC's forum to Notebooks when the post concerns a PC hard drive?

Did you use the firmware upgrade tool at http://www.asci-red.net/tools.htm? I.e. http://www.fis.fujitsu.com/support/disk ... ericVer101).exe

I see there are some other diagnostics listed there that might be useful.

What does Disk Manager say about the drive?

disk drive has wrong firmware update installed

Hi Nick, no, I didn't, the upgrade was from the Fujitsu site and was a self installing exe file.

Disk manager initially sees the drive. But, as soon as I try to access it, either to change the partition, format it or even just look at it, the drive vanishes from the drives list.

I'll have a look at the link that you sent right now.
Thanks.

Don't worry, that links through to the Fujitsu site - or it would do if phpBB could cope with brackets in the URL. Some of the other utilities might be of use, though.

For anyone else who stumbles across this post, the Fujitsu HDD support page is here.
