Postby Mathemagician » Fri Jan 26, 2007 11:41

When i put an installation CD in my DVD/CD drive, it comes up with the following: D:\\ is not a valid win32 application.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how i can fix this?

Normally this means either

The file or Exe is corrupt (Cd scratched)
Your OS is trying to open the EXE with an Unknown prgram
The OS on the Recovery CD is not designed to run on the Current os
NT Recovery cd on XP for example

If you are trying to recover you pc have you tried booting from DOS?

Ok, it happens for norton internet security 2007 and with my printer CD. And My norton runs out soon! So its none of the recovery ones! The CD's arent scratched or corrupt because they are brand new out the packet. It must mean its trying to open it with an unknown programme. Also when i play an audio CD every 20 seconds or so it makes a static sort of noise, comes through the speakers. Any idea how i can fix it jingo? If you need any more information just say.
