getting a SIM to work in q550

Postby rmm1 » Wed Nov 16, 2011 13:12

I just started using my q550.

I inserted a Vodafone Australia SIM (gold side facing me with the back of the tablet facing me). But even though I have both the Airwatcher and driver loaded it will not detect the device.

I even called tech support and they don't know the answer.

Has anyone got this to work?

Oh well it looks like it is official that the SIM slot in the q550 is totally useless. Even tech support in Sydney have no idea how to get it to work!!

I have tried every SIM form different netowrks and no of them are recognised.

Worse still it is impossible to say which way is up for the SIM - as the card goes in both ways.

The diagram in the manual does not show this clearly. Design FLAW.

Don't bother getting the 3G version of the q550 as it does not work.

only an idiot would buy a fujitsu q550

The tech support is completely non-existent and then they carry on about what a great business machine this is.

Are you sure, you have (had) the 3G version of the Q550? I'dont know your technical background, so don't be angry with me

I don't own the 3G version, but my Q550 also has the SIM-slot.

wrong there is a pic by the slot shows which way it goes and impossible you could put it in upside down or wrong way.

True the manual isnt showing it very good at all.

What most do is think the arrow like thing at the top is the pins when actually its a badly enscribed arrow. Look at the edge cut area.

You may have the optional version which has a slot but no gubbins behind it (UMTS/GPS (optional) in datasheet) which maybe explains why you can put it in either way
