[W380] Set "LCD Custom String" Value

Postby feldi740 » Thu Feb 03, 2011 14:53

Hi,

I want to use the LCD integrated in the workstation to prevent myself from labeling it with the help of a Dymo. So I activate "LCD custom string" in the BIOS and deactivate all the other stuff. Now the display is empty so that custom value is not set. How can I change the value of that to present the PCs name and IP address??

Thanks in advance

Thomas

Hi
Its only the high-end CELSIUS R670/570 and M470 that support configuring the LCD to show PC name / IP address etc
The LCD on this model is pretty much pre-configured (apart from the email button). The below is from the W380 Operating Manual.

Cool,

so what if I *have* a M470-2 and *do* want to define the custom string?
How is it done on those machines as you cannot enter it in bios?
Is there a tool that I can use to hack into CMOS?

Thanks in advance!
