[W280] proGreen workstation fan noise issue

Postby PB Celcius » Wed Dec 01, 2010 11:03

I've just purchased a Celsius W280 (proGREEN selection) - Core i7 870 2.93 GHz workstation, all running well, but when I do CPU intensive work and the load goes up to 90% the front fan kicks in and is so extraordinary loud that my colleagues want me to change computers again.

I tried to take off the front grill to reduce air noise with no luck, it seems to be the fan itself that is just very very noisy when operating.

Is there anybody with a similar experience? Is there a software / settings solution to this, or do I have to buy a new / more silent fan
(or any other way to soundproof this machine...)

Thanks

it's running on win7 64-bit.

funnily, the official Fujitsu product web site boasts with "class-leading low noise emissions" ....
