Esprimo P2520: is 800MHz RAM memory supported?

Postby edea » Tue Dec 06, 2011 11:05

Hello,
I own a Fujitsu Esprimo P2520, and I would like to upgrade the RAM memory.

After reading the MotherBoard manual (here) and the P2520 DataSheet (here), I can't tell if the DDR2 800 MHz type is supported or not.

Here is what I can read in the DataSheet:

But the MotherBoard manual does not mention the 800 MHz type:

So will a DDR2 800 MHz module work on my Esprimo P2520 (P2740-A1 motherboard)?

Thank you very much in advance.

HI, Datasheet must be incorrect go by the manual which states 533/667
Looking at my info on it (not datasheet or manual)
Max Memory 4GB* DDR2 533/667 MHz 2 DIMM slots

Thanks for answering. Will anything break if I install the 800MHz memory in the Esprimo? I have been told that it will simply work at a lower speed (667MHz), but it will do no harm to the computer, is that right?

RAM speeds are like tire ratings in that they indicate the maximum supported speed. You would expect a tire rated for 150MPH to work fine at 40MPH. The same is true with RAM.

So long as it's the same memory type, there is no problem using a faster stick of RAM in a board with slower memory support. The memory may not run at top speed unless overclocked or manually set asynchronously in BIOS, but it should work. However - I know the D board are siemens boards and they have always been seriously finicky n the RAM so theres some small % of doubt if it works.
I hope this clarifies
