Espimo Edition P2511

Postby blackrider1 » Tue Sep 27, 2011 10:59

Hello. My "hl-dt-st dvdram gsa-h60n" drive has stopped being recognized by Vista. I can´t boot the pc with this drive. I can´t access to it from Vista neither.
I can see everythig is OK under Devices Manager but no way to access it. Tried a new complete install of Windows 7 onte another disc, but the same issues. I could do it booting from a USB pendrive
Into the bios, it is recognized but, even with the right boot sequence (or even F12) I can´t boot the pc with a bootable CD/DVD (Tried XP/VISTA/W7 original discs).
I can´t access the SATA controller menu in the bios menu (maybe it is protected) to try setting it to IDE. Is there any way to get access to this menu?
Do I need to use a floppy to configure this? Is this BIOS protected to avoid booting the system up from a DVD?
Hopping you can help me. Thanks

The DVD is fail if you are able to select boot menu F12 - select DVD drive section and still doesnt boot from recovery media.
your dvd drive will need replacing.

Esprimo dvd drive is working ok onto another computer. And a working DVD drive is not working when attached to the Esprimo. There is something wrong with the Esprimo controller, but I can´t tell it for sure because I can´t modify any setting related to the controller into the Bios. Any settings are hidden.
Thanks

I see , maybe try disabling ahci in the bios and see if the dvd drive starts working ive only see that happen once on another computer and is very weird if it starts working again.

I can´t disable AHCI in the Bios because ther is not a such option, at least vissible. That´s why I´m asking whether the Bios has hidden menus or not.Is there any "secret or hidden" menu?

I just tried a new DVD recorder and it doesn´t work . Windows (and BIOS) recognizes it but it can read anything. No booting cd/dvd and not reading cd/dvd from Windows, so I think there is a problen with the bios. Although I had the last Bios revision, I updated it again but same issue. Any idea?
Thanks
