[P7935] - Fan always on

Postby Le_blur » Thu Aug 20, 2009 10:44

I have had my Esprimo P7935 for around 4 months now and everything was working great. However, I recently turned the power off completely to the PC for 3 days whilst away for the weekend. Since powering it back on the main fan has remained on constantly which has made what was a very quiet PC into a very noisy one!

The P7935 is running BIOS version 6.00 R1.03.2812.A1

Via the Phoenix SecureCore Setup Utility:
I have tried setting the SM Fan Control in the BIOS to Silent, then Disabled and back to Auto again.
I have tried defaulting the BIOS.

I have also tried defaulting the BIOS by removing the on-board battery.

I have even tried leaving the PC case side open.

None of the above have made any difference.

If anyone can advise on how to resolve this issue it would be greatly appreciated.

I have also tried installing Fujitsu's 'SystemGuard'. However, the installation was not successful as I receive the following errors when trying to run it:

WatchDog - Reset!! - Please check your system!!

Run-time error '380':
Invalid property value

I now find that I am not able to uninstall 'SystemGuard'.

A previous post stated that an upgrade of BIOS cured a similar problem.

I have unsuccessfully searched for an answer on what is the latest version of BIOS, where to get it from and how to do the upgrade.

If anyone has info on this it would also be appreciated.

Very simple: http://support.ts.fujitsu.com

enter your serial number and you will see all relevant drivers for your PC

Hi Thomas,

Thanks for your response. It is greatly appreciated.

In the driver/downloads section for my P7935 it tells me how to find out what my version of BIOS is, which I already know (see 1st post). However, it doesn't tell me what the latest version is or where to get it.

These are the options I get for the Downloads:

Downloads results for ESPRIMO P7935:

How to find out the installed BIOS version of the Fujitsu mainboard Date: 30.07.2007
MS Windows® driver for CD or DVD drives Date: 09.01.2007
Which mainboard is used in my business system Date: 26.07.2007
DeskUpdate: Automatic driver update

Sorry Thomas, it's me just not looking far enough down the page. I've now found all the BIOS versions so I'll try an upgrade and let you know how it goes.

Thanks again for you help.

Peace at last!

I have upgraded to BIOS version 6.00 R1.15.2812.A1 and the fan has stopped.

Many thanks Thomas for your assistance.
