Bios having trouble detecting the hdd.
Want to use WD VelociRaptor 300GB Sata2 (no jumpers on hdd) as the only hdd in the setup.
Downgrading to XPP from scratch (OEM XP installation)
Tryed a coupple of times to install XP without, the "F6" additional drivers to the p5925 sata controller.
The XP installation detected the hdd fine as the Installation CD ran in "DOS Caracter mode" but when it had to reboot, either "black screen" or "black screen dos message" saying there was a problem with the hardware.
Tryed updating the bios, but cancled, since it was already the latest version.
Started using the "F6" additional driver. (the "first one on the list", no raid on my system).
Partly succesful installation.
Now XP starts 80% of the time, but 20% of the time it says "No operating system found" on boot.
"Ctrl alt del" (perhaps a few times) and XP boots succesfully.
If I "Ctrl Alt Del" - "F2" directly after a failed boot (to enter the bios) there is NO hdd present in BIOS.
On the other hand; every time I "Ctrl Alt Del" - "F12" (to chose boot sequence), the hdd IS PRESENT and the computer boots SUSSESFULLY
Have ordered a new "Promise SATA 300 TX2 Plus 2+1 SATA/PATA" controller to see if it fixes the problem.
PS: Damm this system is fast when it works....
