Esprimo P5600 - Upgrading to X2

Postby almark » Fri Feb 10, 2006 12:10

Hi folks, I am new to the forum. I am a web designer and recently my pc passed away and my boss bought me a new one! It is a P5600, 3500+, 512MB DDR, etc. This is not really ideal for my needs, but it was free! So I have ordered a Sapphire Technology Radeon X1300 512MB PCI-E graphics card, and another 3x 512MB PC3200. This should improve things quite a bit, as I often need to have Photoshop, Dreamweaver and a browser all open at the same time. (at the moment I may as well have a hourglass screensaver!)

My main question is 'can I upgrade my 3500+ to a X2 chip?' I work a lot in Photoshop, and I am sure the dual core would make a significant difference.

Yes, you should be able to upgrade the system you described.

But be aware of the general issues that XP has with dual(core) CPUs and power saving features that clock down the PC. If you run into any troubles (I am not sure if Microsoft already released patches for these issues) try disabling Cool'n'Quiet first.

Thank you, and yes I will have to look into that.
