S6410 Windows 7 battery issue

Postby Travel_Mate » Mon Apr 12, 2010 9:17

Hi all,
in Vista I used to have good 5-6 ours on battery (I've even seen a notification saying "7:45 h remaining") and it took 4-5 hours to fully charge. 6 months ago I switched to 7 and .... suddenly I can barely squeeze 3:30 hours. It takes around 2 hours to recharge. 6 months later I can hardly see more than 2 hours of battery time. Few weeks ago I got pissed off and reinstall Vista Business again and ... voila I have my 5-6 hours back and it takes again ages (4-5 hours) to recharge. Today in the morning I've seen again "7:42 h remaining"
Looks like the problem is that win 7 is not completely charging the battery (compare charging times above)or something else.
Did somebody else experienced similar problem?
Are FS going to release a BIOS update? (the last one 20.08.2008 looks too old)

Has anybody experienced something like this? Or nobody has tried Win7? Come on guys, am I the only one with such a problem? This is a serious decrease in battery life, but seem like the batt is ok, after switching OSs everything is fine.

I have an S6410 and recently switched to Windows 7. I have noticed that my battery does not last as long as it used to, but the change was not as dramatic as you report. I had also been having serious problems with Vista SP2, so I have not changed back.

In any event, I think that you do not have the latest BIOS. You should have version 1.31 published by Fujitsu and Phoenix in May 2009.

I find the Fujitsu web sites and help information confusing and lacking, so I tend to trawl around for as much information as I can get. I am British and live in Asia, but I only found this BIOS, and a step by step guide to loading Windows 7 on the Fujitsu US web site - even then the upgrade failed several times and I twice had to call Microsoft for technical help.

Where did you find 1.31 bios? Pls, link? I've searched everywhere, but I only see 1.30 published in 2008. On Fujitsu's Asian site I can't find bios updates at all. On the USA's site I've seen 1.31 but it was for Lifebook S6510. Well in my opinion S6410 and S6510 are practically identical, although I am afraid to try it.
