I’m working with a new language teaching program on my lifebook B-2130 (with Win 98 SE).
After some moments of normal work (including the functioning of the sound card), I receive a system warning, telling me there is a problem with the sound card (problem 382).
After gathering information, I found that the sound component on this lifebook was a Sigmatel Codec AC97 based on Intel 82440 MX., the driver being a version 4.10.01.21 from 1999.
On the FSC site, I downloaded a more recent driver version from 2000, with version number 5.12.01.3070.
Now, when I propose this new version on floppy to the Lifebook, the system answers that the already installed version (the older one) is the most appropriate one. I hesitate to force the system to install this new version, because I fear a lot of new problems.
Can someone give me a good tip?
Thank you beforehand.
