6 Year old Laptop; external monitor???

Postby Taylor22 » Mon Feb 20, 2012 16:47

Hi
I am using a 6 year old Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo laptop - I think the model No is T2050, but I'm not sure. It's specs are 1.60Ghz, 800Mz, 504Mb RAM, 15" screen running Windows XP Home edition 2002. That is the only information I can find on the computer. (I did not purchase it, it is on loan).

My question is; is it possible to attach and use an external monitor to this laptop? I am finding the small screen difficult to use on a daily basis and want to add a 21.5" external monitor. If it is possible, what connections would I need? Would I need extra software? Is there a restriction on what type and size of monitor - LED, LCD etc- it could cope with?

If it is possilbe, could it be possible to have it running as well as the laptop screen (showing different stuff), or is it possible to use it instead of the laptop screen??

I already have a 500Gb external memory attached via a USB port.

I am not a computer expert -so, please, if you are kind enough to answer, keep it simple!!! :)

Many thanks - I look forward to your replies.
