(Pi 1536) graphic card replacement and battery replacement

Postby DrSus » Mon Nov 14, 2011 12:37

Hello!

I've got a problem with my graphic card-the current one has probably gone bad (got horizontal white lines on the screen-on the external monitor and on the laptop monitor-if I boot in safe mode the lines dissapear (the graphics switch to internal card), the lines also disappear if I disable the graphic card); tried reinstalling drivers, formatting the drive and reinstalling the drivers with no effect at all)
and I need a new one. I called the service in my country and they said to me that the only compatible video card is X1400, but as I see here this isn't it. Since I'm changing the graphic card anyway I want to get something better for a reasonable price. I was looking at this, which seems like the nice replacement (http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-ATI-Mobilit ... 153wt_1185) and maybe this one: (http://www.ebay.com/itm/ATI-Mobility-Ra ... 4458wt_995), but I think the problem with the second one is the incorrect slot. I am wondering if anyone of you knows if the 1st card is compatible or if anyone can recommend me a new graphic card-with price similar to the 1st. Maybe some advice as to where to buy the card? I also saw that some sellers sell just the chipsets; how do I install those?
Do you maybe have experience with some other sites that sell graphic cards?

Nextoff, since my battery is also pretty worn out, I'd like to buy a new one; again-the service in my country said that the maximum capacity for the battery is 6-cell, but I don't see a problem with a 9-cell battery? For example I was looking for this items:
6-cell type (http://www.ebay.com/itm/170719204413?ss ... 3373wt_952)
and 9-cell type (http://www.ebay.com/itm/390332962149?ss ... 2348wt_952).
Any thoughts on this matter?

I have already upgraded my ram from 512mb to 2gb and I got a new hard drive (80gb to 500gb), otherwise no changes have been made to the computer. I was using the laptop with no problems in win7 ultimate before, the problem appeared after a couple of months of use so there isn't a problem with compatibility. (the rest of the configuration is the same as specified in Amilo Pi1536)

Thank you very much for your answers!

Kindest regards,
Aleks Sustar
