Amilo PI 3525 SECOND MEMORY SLOT HOW TO?

Postby pi3525user » Mon Jul 27, 2009 15:15

Hi all!

Please help me!

I can't find any way to use the memory slot which is unreachable under the memory service compartment.

How can I use that?
How can I use the memory which was in it? and change it to a 2gb module?

Do I have to remove the keyboard?
If I have to do it, how can I remove the keyboard with Amilo PI 3525???

Please help me!

Please answer!

Bye!

Not sure if this model uses the same chasis as the Pi3540 or not but on the Pi 3540 one RAM slot is under the bottom cover and the second RAM slot is accessed under the keyboard.

If they are the same type of chasis to get the keyboard out you need to take off the speaker cover (Don't forget to take the screws out the bottom which hold the speaker cover in place) and unclip the four clips at the top of the keyboard.

Have you removed the speaker cover? On the Pi3540 the clips to hold the keyboard in place are actually under the speaker cover.

Hi!

From where do I know which screws related to speaker cover??
There are two kinds of signs on the bottom of notebook, one is an Arrow directed to the screw, and an other one is a circle in a bigger circle.

Which related to the speaker cover???

My Pi 3525 came out of the box with 2 GB module under the keyboard and the other slot was empty (just under the main cover of the case), so the installation of another 2 GB module was easy.

Download official AMILO_Notebook_Operating_Manual from Fujitsu site. They got one chapter explaining how to install extra RAM, both cases (under the keyboard and 'regular' slot under the case cover).

Also, take a look at this topic: viewtopic.php?f=90&t=38515

Unfortunately Fujitsu site Have Not Operating Manual for this type of notebook about using the Second Memory Slot.
My notebook came out of the box with 1 GB module under the keyboard, and I want to change it to a 2 GB module, in the other slot I take in the another 2 GB module. So now I have 3 GB, but I want to use my another 2 GB module too, to have 4 GB, and then the 64-bit vista can use this memory.

Please if somebody have the solution please tell me.
I know that I have to take out the speaker cover, and then I can remove the keyboard. But I dont know how I can remove the speaker cover from Amilo 3525. If somebody know How it can be done with Amilo 3515, 3520, 3525, 3540, 3553 please tell me.
These type of Amilos use the same scheme.

Please give me the information how I can do this.

Bye!

Yes it does. Look for AMILO_Notebook_Operating_Manual.PDF (English).
If you really can't find it, let me know and I will find it for you or send you my copy.

Before taking any actions in order to upgrade to 4 GB of RAM, please note that Pi 3525 has an issue with 64bit systems, Fujitsu does not support any 64bit OS, so you're on your own.
The machine keeps rebooting in almost every 64 bit OS (including Windows and Linux) and with 4 GB of RAM installed, still due to an unknown reason.

Take a look at this topic: viewtopic.php?f=90&t=39045

P.S. In short words, you need to remove keyboard to remove 1 GB module and replace it with 2 GB. Note that you'll likely have constant rebooting problem. :? But some users have reported they have no issues, so who knows perhaps your model will work just fine?!

I have found Op. Manual for 3525 but it DOES NOT WRITE How I can Change the Memory under the Keyboard!
Because it is the General Operating Manual For Amilos, only the name of it is 3525 operating manual, but it is not only for this type.

So you say you have an Operating Manual for 3525 which Includes Memory under the keyboard Operating Part???????????

If yes, please send me.

P.S. I use 3 kinds of 64bit operation system: Vista, Win7, Ubuntu, and all works well.

Please somebody helps me to find the way to change the memory under the keyboard.

Strange, now I cannot find english manual, I see all local versions!! What did they do with their website
Anyways the description is not that precise, it says only that you need to look for your second module under the keyboard. No specific info on how to remove the keyboard screws etc. From other user's experience the easier way to remove the keyboard is to use plastic bank/ID card (Visa,Master, ID, etc...) to 'unlock' the screws that holds the keyboard. I haven't done this by myself so I'm only telling you what I've read elsewhere on the net.

@64 bit OS: yes, now I removed my 2 GB slot and there's no problems with rebooting.

I hope you will find a way to upgrade your Amilo with 4 GB of RAM and to see if then your 64 bit OS's will work.

If I remember rightly (which I might not to be honest) it was the two screws right in the corner. But to be safe just remove all screws on the bottom which are in the same area as the speaker cover.

Isn't it on the manual? If i remember correctly they have it in there. You should double check to be sure.
