I never thought I'd see the day.... Fujitsu, I take back all the bad things I said ^u^

I just grabbed the gentoo-minimal-amd64 ISO which I knew caused the reboot when booting. This is the same ISO I used when I figured out the reboot was happening when loading the ACPI thermal module. My Pi3525 was running 1.09C and as expected the machine rebooted as soon as it loaded the ACPI modules. I booted up into Vista and applied the BIOS update.

The update resets all the BIOS settings, make sure you set them back afterwards!

Booting the ISO running 1.10C I had expected it to reboot, but it didn't! The ISO booted without a single issue. I confirmed it was indeed running in x86_64 mode and I can see and access all 4GB of RAM. Fujitsu have really come through and finally fixed the 64bit issue. Whether intentional or not, it does work.

I don't have the time right now to try installing a 64bit version of Windows, or Linux, so I'll leave that to you guys to test and report back.

Assuming it really is fixed... Thank you Fujitsu! You've corrected the only issue I had with this excellent machine!

Addition:
All the ACPI data under Linux is available and correct. It truly does seem like this long-standing issue is finally fixed ^^ I eagerly await others to give it a full test.

Really?! OMG I can't believe it! :)

Solved problems:

- Fix CMOS clear issue.

^^ I thought that was the only issue in this release... so I postponed the flashing process (btw, there's no ISO version available, which is way more secure than flashing from Windows :? )

Gonna give it a try ASAP.

But why they didn't mentioned it in the release - something like "Fixed 64 bit random reboot issue on configurations >3 GB of RAM" :D

If this flash works as expected - I'll take back all the bad things I said too :P 8)

Fantastic! Thanks for testing oversized.

Fujitsu, I dunno if this was an intended fix, or whether it was simply a fix pulled in from the latest code from Phoenix, but thank you ^^

Hopefully the issues with Windows 64bit are gone too, I may give it a test in the future.

All the best everyone ^^

I'm typing this from W7 x64 RC. See attachment, i disabled max memory = 4095 workaround (~3GB usable) and now Win is stable as expected with full 4 GB's of RAM usable :D 8)
Machine is perfectly stable, ORTHOS torture ran for 2 hours... :!:

Great news!

Unfortunatelly I seem to have a problem flashing the BIOS with x64 Windows 7. The flash software reports a problem loading the driver \AppData\Temp\PhlashNT.sys, although running as Administrator with UAC turned off.
Have you done the flash from within 32bit system?

I strongly recommend against flashing from within Windows 64bit as you're still running 1.09C which is unstable. Your best course of action is to wait and hope Fujitsu post the bootable CD for the flash.

If your machine reboots while flashing, it will almost certainly kill it and you'll have to send it to be repaired.

I could modify the existing CD to flash the new BIOS, but to be honest, I'm not prepared to risk anyone's machine by doing so. You'll either have to wait for Fujitsu to post it, or find another way of flashing it. Sorry =)

Addition:
Just to add. The Flash utility provided by Fujitsu for Windows only functions under 32bit as it has to load a driver to flash the BIOS. It's called WinPlash, google will help you find a way of making it function on a 64bit Windows system, but again I must stress I would seriously recommend against doing so whilst running 1.09C. If the machine reboots mid-flash there's no way I know of to recover it without sending it off to Fujitsu for repair.

What good news!
I've made a boot cd to upgrade the bios. You can download the ISO from here: http://www.2shared.com/file/11217364/85 ... ootcd.html

As NeoLojik says, the BIOS upgrade is a delicate operation, so do it at your own risk. Although the CD I uploaded is the one I've used this morning without problems.

I forgot to mention that when you boot with the CD, you must write the following command and press <ENTER>:

phlash16 /c /cs /s /x flashabl.rom

Perhaps temistokles' Amilo is preinstalled with only 2 or 3 GB's of RAM, which would make a stable environment for x64 systems :)

P.S. how's everybody doing, 1.10c flashed already and running x64/4GB without any issues? 8)
I've noticed that my webcam always goes on after shutdown with new BIOS 1.10c. With previous versions the cam was able to 'remember' the power state - on or off. It's not that a big deal is :P

Like the switch on the webcam, it seems that after a reboot, the wifi switch state does not remember its previous state.
Apart from that, everything seems to be going well :D

That's odd - my webcam does remember the previous state, like with previous BIOS releases. Just the Wi-Fi card goes always on after a reboot/shutdown. Perhaps the BIOS option "Wireless card disabled" will do the job :D

Cheers!

80%: This rating is not convincing. It must be considered, that there exist hardly any laptops, which receive a rating below 60%. This notebook is evaluated below average, this is not really a recommendation for purchase.

Are they nuts? This laptop didn't received below 60% rating, it's 80%! Evaluated below average = 80% ?!?! Crazy. :x What's an average then, 90% out of 100%?!

No, I have been lucky enough and successfully installed x64 without a reboot, then I have lowered the usable memory to 3 GB.

FS finally released an ISO-based BIOS flash, which can be downloaded (although, the date says, it has been reliesed in January ). In my case, the flash ran fine, for now, no sudden restarts appear (using 4 GB of memory). If anything changes, I'll let you know.
