[Pi1536] record segment unreadable..?

Postby L-aura » Tue Mar 10, 2009 20:03

Hi,
Since 2,5 years I'm the 'lucky' owner of a Amilo Pi 1536. I had to re-install Windows XP home edition many times (the climax was 3 times in 2 weeks). I also got several errors and it even stopped working recently, but I managed to 'fix' it. So now it works again.

The last couple of weeks I receive a new kind of error: When I start up the notebook, I receive just after the Windows XP screen, a blue screen. Then something like CHKDSK (?) is running and it freezes at 49%. After that: File record segment 89740 is unreadable (in Dutch > bestandsrecordsegment) is stated. Than the system is totally frozen and I have to re-boot it.

I can prevent this by pressing a key within 10 seconds, but I know something serious is going on with the hard disk. Does anyone know what is wrong and how to fix this?

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

you should test the harddrive. It seems there are some defect sectors on it.
Use a testprogram from the harddrive manufacturer. You will find it on the website of him.

Hi!
Thanks for the quick response. I did the hard disk check but it had a very strange outcome:

Hi you should use the FJDTwin.exe for test in Windows.
You choosed the dos tool that maybe is not working correctly for SATA drives in AHCI Mode.
They can not find any drive because of missing SATA/AHCI driver.
