[Li2727] Solution - AutoStart wireless on login

Postby dmonty » Thu Jul 03, 2008 22:30

After weeks of looking through the internet and this forum, I've finaly got a solution for autostarting Wireless on login... No longer do you need to press FN F1. ( Fujutsu Siemens Li 2727 )

Copy and paste the below text in to a text editor, save it and give it any filename with the extension .vbs, eg wirelessstart.vbs and copy a shortcut to your startup folder:

Set WshShell = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
Set oExec = WshShell.Exec("C:\Program Files\Launch Manager\WisWBSet.exe")
do while WshShell.AppActivate("Wireless Status Option")=False
WScript.Sleep 100
loop
WScript.Sleep 100
WshShell.sendkeys("{TAB}{TAB}{LEFT}~")

Good luck and goodbye

Okay dumb moment over:

Click Vista circle (bottom left)
Right Click All Programs
Click Open All Users
Scroll down to StartUp
Paste in vbs file

You must be the administrator of the laptop to do this.

Works a treat.

Thanks

Hi there - I have tried this but it doesn't seem to work, a black CMD prompt appears on boot but thats all that happens. I am running as administrator. Is it possible for you to copy the directory where you put the file because I can't seem to find the same startup folder as described above.

This is the path to my Startup...

Computer > SYSTEM(C:) > Users > [Your user, has to be admin] > AppData > Roaming > Microsoft > Windows > Start Menu > Programs > Startup

The way I got there was to click START (Windows circle, bottom left), click All Programs, Right Click 'Startup' and then click Explore.
There's your Startup Folder. Paste the .vbs file into there. Shabam. Worked for me. :D

Also, Big BIG thanks to dmonty for posting the file. ^__^

Thanks also Ginga for posting this. Fairly new to Vista so still learning my way around the "sutble" differences in the OS. Saved me yet more time.

hi, have just bought the 2727 and a fantastic machine; got fed up using function keys to enable wireless. have followed the previous instructions by pasting .vbs script - that has solved it in that I now get a shortcut to choosing to turn the wifi on. however; is there a way of actually having it turned on automatically on start up without having to make a choice??

many thanks

Many Thanks to Dmonte installes the file as described in the previous posts and now when i switch on my laptop after it has booted up the wireless connection is all ready and connected to my network -Brilliant

Just one question

Since i have installed the above i have lost the icons for network, internet, and sound have dissappeared from the tool bar at the bottom right of my screen, im not rally bothered about losing the sound icon but i would like the network and internet icons back

I have right clicked on the toolbar and selected properties and tried to reinstate these icons but the options to include them in the properties are greyed out and unaccesable

Can any help me get my missing icons back

Thanks in advance

andy ... i have read that some people having this problem solved it by going to the system properties Once in system select Hardware then select Device Manager.

In device manager, go to network adapter, right click on your network adaptor and select “update driver”

And a big thanks for the auto start script
